چکیده

Speciation of copper in a contaminated soil during electrokinetic remediation (EKR) assisted by H3PO4 was studied by in situ X-ray absorption near edge structural (XANES) spectroscopy. The least-square fit of the XANES spectrum showed that CuCO3 (68%) and CuCl2 (32%) were the major copper species in the contaminated soil. In the presence of H3PO4 (40%), most of CuCl2 and about 24% of CuCO3 were dissolved into the aqueous phase. After 90 min of EKR, at least 30% of Cu(II) ions were transported towards the cathode by electric field. A similar dissolution behavior of copper from the soil with 40% H3PO4 and 2% H2O2 was also observed. Nevertheless, migration of Cu(II) ions to the cathode was highly enhanced in the presence of H3PO4 and H2O2 by EKR for the first 90 min. ©

Speciation of As in the blackfoot disease endemic area.

Speciation of arsenic (As) in well water and contaminated soil in the blackfoot disease endemic area has been studied by extended X-ray absorption fine structural (EXAFS) spectroscopy in the present work. Experimentally, we found that arsenic in the well water possessed an As-O bond distance of 1.72 A with a coordination number (CN) of 4.3. In the blackfoot disease area, arsenic with a high oxi...

The effect of incubation time and silk worm cocoon on mobility of zinc and copper in contaminated clay soil

Of the problematic agents in the ecosystem, heavy metals have special importance because they are unabsorbable and have physiologic effects on living beings at low concentrations. This study has investigated the effect of silk worm cocoon on reducing mobility of zinc (Zn) and copper (Cu) for the first time. To this end, 5% cocoon adsorbent was added to the studied soil, which had been contamina...

Mobility of zinc and copper in contaminated clay soil influenced by Actinidia deliciosa and incubation times

As a low cost byproduct, Actinidia deliciosa shell can be made into sorbent materials which are used in heavy metals immobilization. It has been investigated as a replacement for currently expensive methods of heavy metal immobilization from soil. In this study, soil samples were contaminated with copper (Cu) and zinc (Zn) at the rate of 600 ppm in separate dishes. The 5% Actinidia deliciosa sh...
